Small Minds, Medium Minds, BIG Minds
Small Minds, Medium Minds and Big Minds.
I originally heard this brilliant concept of small, medium, and big minds from a great martial-arts instructor named Tom Callos. Your words and actions are a direct result of what’s going on in your mind.. So we know that our outside is a direct reflection of our inside!
When you hear someone gear their outer conversation to talking about other people in a negative way we know that they are in the “small mind” category! If you think about it, what can be accomplished by simply talking about others in a negative way? I know, there’s a certain amount of entertainment value and some folks get paid the big bucks to actually sit there and do this. But relative to all the folks who get paid big bucks to talk about others in a negative way there are millions of broke, miserable, and downright un-happy folks who go about their day to day lives talking about others! These folks have small minds and “small minds talk about people!”
When you hear someone’s conversations and general topic of discussion geared toward things…material processions; houses, cars, clothes, watches, etc they are in the medium mind category! Medium minds are, most of the time, fixed on “things.” The medium minded individual will spend time surfing the net for “stuff” to buy. Maybe they spend a whole bunch of time on ebay looking at things to put in their house. Buying a new car is a monumental event for these folks. The problem with having a medium mind is that it’s never satisfied. Think about it…If you’re constantly fixated on “stuff” will the obsession ever go away? Will you ever have enough? “Medium minds talk about things!”
Finally to “Big Minds.” Big minds are the minds that make things happen! They’re the minds that bring great ideas to life and move the world forward. Get around some very successful folks and the gist of their conversations will be that of “what’s next” and “what idea are we bringing to life?” Big minds talk about ideas! They have little time for any other useless thoughts because they are always acting on their ideas too. Big minds also work to bring their ideas to life! Big minds talk about ideas!
I know that you are moving toward the category of “big mind” so please, let your conversations and thoughts be that of ideas for your life and career that you are bringing into reality. Yes, of course you’ll get caught up every now and then talking about someone who wronged you. Just be sure to learn the lesson, take the wisdom and don’t let them control you or allow yourself to be wronged in the same way by them or someone else ever again. Remember, you deserve to reward yourself with things when your ideas come to reality and make you money so it’s ok to talk about those things, just don’t over do it!
