Move Fast
“The world is changing very fast. Big will not beat small anymore. It will be fast beating slow.”
-Robert Murdoch
This is so true – Now More Than Ever!
Yet, I am still so amazed at how S-L-O-W many business owners and sales people move.
Some say that they want things to be done RIGHT. I think we all want things done right, but when “right” equals super slow and forever and a day to get it out the door that’s a problem.
It is extremely important to move fast and sacrifice perfection for a few reasons.
1) Items that are done, naturally by the laws of the universe, have a positive cause and effect relationship on your whole life.
2) Timing is everything and if you’re too slow you may miss vital opportunities.
3) Nothing is ever perfect anyway so why should your project be any different.
4) How many “problems” that may have been caught in the perfection process are totally irreversible? Not many- so it is game of odds and you can win.
5) Do you really ever know when your time is up? Better “get ‘er done.”
6) The more you get done, the more chances you have of being able to go through the open door when the time comes.
7) The sooner you test something the sooner you know whether it works or not.
And there are more reasons to move quickly! Don’t get me wrong though. I am not advocating “Blind Faith” or not doing your due diligence on certain ventures. I am not condoning the rushing of things that you have little or no control over.
What I am saying is…
If you’ve been “thinking about it,” then do it. If you are in control of your own destiny and striving for perfection is only holding you back you have to recognize it and get moving.
If you don’t move fast how can you expect co-workers, partners and vendors to move fast?
