Obama used this classic sales formula to pitch his Healthcare

 

As I was listening to President Obama deliver his speech on healthcare reform it was really obvious that he was following an old classic sales formula.

Problem – Agitate – Solve

Basically state a problem that the person  or group you’re persuading can identify with. Agitate it a little…Sort of like getting out your salt shaker and pouring some salt in the wound.  Solve it…But more importantly, show how what you have will solve the problem and make the pain go away!

So I encourage you to listen to the beginning of his speech again. It’ll be really obvious.

Of course as he went on he started using a little “before and after” and some other persuasive principles.

I guess we’ll see how it goes over.

I am not trying to make any political commentary here because that’s not what I do.

Just remember with persuasive techniques- the product or service behind them needs to be rock solid.
